I bought this to charge the battery in a used car I bought. The battery is from 2013 and is showing around 12.2 volts after driving the car on the freeway where it should have had enough time to fully charge to 12.6 volts or higher. If I go out and check the next day the battery will be around 12.1 so I figured it would need to be replaced this year as most car batteries last around 3 to 5 years. But with proper maintenance, I hoped to add a few more years to the life of this and other summer car batteries. I connected a charger to the battery for a daily driver and gave it 2 days while driving in the summer. the car circled back to the same battery voltage of 12.1 by 12.2; not what I expected and foresaw the need to buy a battery this winter so the car doesn't get stuck somewhere when the snow falls. I left it hooked up to the summer car while driving the daily driver until we went on vacation for a week. I then connected this charger to my Daily Driver and left it running for 8 days while we were away. When I came back the battery voltage was 12.7 and hasn't dropped since! I think it took running the charger and desulfator for a week to get the battery from 50% to 80%. I drive the car every day for a week, short and long distances, and the battery stays fully charged. I'm no longer afraid of this winter and the old battery in my car. I'll be leaving it connected to the summer car's battery all winter and expect it won't be a problem in the spring when it's back in use. The charger is advertised as being able to keep 2 batteries charged and I will test it next year when we connect a summer car and deep cycle RV battery to it as they are not used in winter.
