So, where to start. I suppose with some announcements1. I am in no way affiliated with this company, although I would like to be2. I have no reason to write this review other than to share useful information based on my experience with these blocks. So my addiction to these blocks started about 2 years ago when my son was 1 year old. Since he couldn't play with them then. We bought two sets from a major retailer. Coincidentally the sets were 25% off this time of year and I hopped on two boxes and stashed them away for a while. When my son was 2 years old they started playing with dice. Since then, it's been an uphill struggle not to keep buying more parts. We currently have 3 sets, around 300pcs, and I have two more boxes (100pcs each) for my son's upcoming birthday which will give us over 500pcs. Why are these blocks so important to our lives you ask? Why invest so much money in these blocks? Please allow me to answer in layers. Cost: These blocks aren't expensive, not when you think about the expense involved in making dinner for a family of three. Go to your RedLibster or AliveGarden one night and tell me how much you spend. Ouch. They did a great job spending $100 on pasta and breadsticks. You could have a toy that your child/children will play with for 10 years and pass on to their children one day, or an item that you could easily sell on online auction sites for at least half your original amount. We all know that "if you want something good, you pay a little more". So let's not succumb to the illusion that their cost is too high. Compared to other toys they represent a fraction of the value based on skills. (see below) Abilities: These things are almost unlimited in what they allow someone to produce. When my son started playing with this he made "floors" for his trucks, then they were plain fences, then fences with roofs, then villages with roads and buildings, then airports and fire stations etc. hence the reason we need them more blocks. I have a hard time keeping up with his very creative spirit. Why: Those $100 bricks, or whatever you spend on them, are superior to any other "tuning" toy you can buy, like the TTT tune to run trains that get boring over time become, although the tracks let the imagination run wild. Even with tracks, although you can only drive trains over them. With these parts you can build anything as described above. My son built a house for his "plush toys". Damn. Once we even built a few for his dinosaurs and for him. Pros: These pads are so easy to store that they are perfect for the person with Analytical/Obsessive Compulsive Disorder who loves to clean up after their kids. A few minutes and they are just as neat as when they arrived in their original packaging. Not many toys can offer that. Not to mention they avoid the infamous 'midnight' by stepping on (small block) and screaming for death. So. I'm just here to compliment Valtech on their exceptional product. These blocks are strong, secure, and shockproof (at least they seem to be). I'm a very hands-on dad and I spend countless hours playing with my son (he's the only child who turns 3 next week). I had a lot of fun playing with these blocks and watching his brain develop in different directions. The following are some of the learning benefits I believe these blocks offer: 1. Patience in understanding how long it takes to build something. Mechanical dexterity 3. Resilience in retrieving fallen objects 4. Geometry/shape recognition5. Math/Counting6. physique; Strength; Magnetism/Lever7. Team building8. Creative play9. Preliminary course of action 10. (more I will definitely come back when my child grows up) I DID NOT RECEIVE A DISCOUNT FOR THIS PRODUCT. I get no credit for writing this review other than to know that I may have helped you purchase these blocks for your child or children to play with. That alone would be very helpful to me and would appreciate taking the time to review these blocks. Since then we've started to expand with these blocks: - Play with them in the shower - Take them to Grandma's house - Take them to the sandpit (Mr. Crabby) My son calls these things "sticky cubes" and it's one of his favorite toys . We've actually played with them for at least half an hour to 3 hours for the last 6 months in a row. I would say that's too much (ie a game) but I know we will play with my son. It's nice to know that I'm doing my job as a parent and can find something. I enjoy watching his little brain expand before my eyes. This is the epitome of the kind of things you buy to enrich your children's lives. It took me a while to buy a STEM toy/product because I wanted to buy the right thing. This. after the 4th purchase, my conviction that there is no better toy is confirmed. Cons: None Additional Info: Magnetic strength is good. Your projectsQuestions? If you have any questions, I'm happy to provide further thoughts. Enjoy. and remember. You can't say $100 is a lot of money for a toy when you eat, drink, smoke, etc. out every night.
