Review on Enhance Your Eyewear with Revant Replacement Compatible Polarized Stealth Lenses by Ken Pinell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good fit, form and function, bonus and caution

I replaced the dark gray (non-iridium) lenses on my 7 year old Oakley Half Jackets. After reading some of the reviews I had some concerns about ordering the correct lens, but using the information on the Revant website I was able to confirm that I don't have a 2.0 or XLJ frame and ordered the correct lens . Invisible black lenses I received are slightly darker and thinner than the OEM lenses. I prefer a darker shade, so this is a welcome difference. Comparing with some other polarized lenses I have confirmed that these lenses are polarized. My OEM lenses are not polarized which can contribute to a darker appearance. Some reviewers report that these lenses are thinner than OEM lenses and 0.8mm thick compared to 1.3mm OEM lenses. I was concerned that the lenses would rattle in the frame, but they fit snugly and don't wobble. They are inserted into the frame with no more force than is required to remove traditional lenses. The main use of these goggles is running and where I live it's humid. I'm used to OEM lenses fogging up most of the time, but I find that Revant lenses are really good at resisting fogging. If I intentionally cloud them by focusing my breath on them while running, they clear up almost immediately. I wasn't expecting them to fog up so that's a plus. Revain's description says "Impact resistant (exceeds ANSI Z80.3 and EN 1836:2005)". My research shows these are UV transmittance standards, not impact resistance, which is ANSI Z87.1. This is where thinner glasses can be worse. So if your application requires a certain level of ballistic protection or impact resistance, you may need to do your own research. For non-critical use I would buy these lenses without hesitation. They fit snugly, are polarized, and won't fog up, at a fraction of the OEM price. I'm deducting a star because of the misleading claims about impact resistance.

Pros
  • BEST MATERIALS | Manufactured from injection molded polycarbonate. Stronger and lighter than glass lenses. Meets ANSI Z80.3 impact protection standards
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
