Best Product for 25 Year Old Hardwoods

Amazing Product! I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews describing layers of a hazy finish that flare up and chip. I suspect this is due to overuse and/or misapplication. I will share with you how I have used this product and detail my floors. This was the best thing I've done for my hardwoods! My floors are oak, originally for my 1993 house. Sealed with something like regular oil-based polyurethane. The floors are beginning to show some signs of wear. They're not advanced enough to need refinishing, but I do have a lot of scratches, a few pits and warps. First of all, they became difficult to keep clean. I read some very positive reviews on blogs and websites about this product and decided to give it a try. Procedure: I have followed the instructions in the letter. I made sure my floors were perfectly clean and dry by vacuuming them, sweeping them with a duster, mopping with detergent, letting them dry overnight, and then dusting them dry again in the morning. Now I was ready to apply the floor finish! It's sprayable and I used a microfiber cedar squeegee to spread it out. That ruined the mop head so if I make it again I'll use the old one. I had to work fast. The product has a strong odor, not as strong as resin or paint but stronger than floor cleaner. I opened the windows. I "painted over" as it was not intended to be walked on until it had set for several hours. I did this in the morning after my husband and kids left for work and school. The instructions say a second layer is acceptable. I decided against it. After three or four hours I rearranged the furniture and walked on it. It took me about an hour to apply it to about 500 square feet of hardwood flooring. To be honest, it took a lot longer to prepare. Result: the floors are immediately shiny and shiny! They weren't exactly slippery. It went like this for a few weeks. Even more important to me than looks was how they "repel" dirt and dust. As I had hoped, they stay cleaner. I no longer have to rub wood fibers in to keep floors clean. I can only vacuum or sweep, except for the kitchen, which I mop about once a week. That's all! That was back in May, and now it's August. I haven't applied the floor finish yet. The blog reviews I mentioned earlier with good results talked about reapplying after a couple/several months or so. If I reapply I will be using the deep cleaner recommended by Holloway House to remove what remains of this flooring. I have to assume that those who have had problems with this product have either used it too often as the wrong cleaner and/or had a different floor type than me. I can say with confidence that this product is worth the price and even more - I would pay five times more - and although the application process was painful, it was ultimately worth it as I spend an hour or two a week washing floors for three saved months.
