I was skeptical that this device could be securely attached and would not affect the performance of my MacBook Pro. My skepticism turned out to be wrong. It feels fairly securely attached, and the small protrusion that sits between the screen and keyboard (when the laptop is closed) doesn't touch the screen at all. I was afraid it would get stuck there and leave marks over time, but I've been using it for several months now with no problems. I also love how its small size makes it just disappear. When it's not locked, I hardly notice MacLock. I'm still confused as to why Apple engineers couldn't figure out a good way to fit a Kensington slot into the new MacBooks, but nonetheless it's a clean, sophisticated, and solid solution. I was very pleased.
