Good magnet for teaching and/or picking up small parts. I have one nearby to sweep the floor for the screw I just dropped and it works pretty well. For training, however, consider a stronger metal bar magnet. On my first "walk" about magnetism with my grandson, two magnets remained so firm when I lifted one with the other that one broke in two. That gave me the opportunity to show that now every detail has become a magnet in its own right, but still. The classic bar or horseshoe magnet is also better suited for demonstrating iron filings.
