Small dog is about to have abdominal surgery so I ordered this inflatable collar to replace the plastic cone I could have used otherwise. The principle is good at preventing licking of the wound site while providing better vision and ability to swallow food/water than would be possible with a plastic or fabric neck cone. The Boobooloon product arrived but lacked in quality and features. First, it's an all vinyl product, similar to a kid's inflatable pool donut, but with an open circle (think horse collar). Second, the inflation tube was closed and required a sharp object to inflate it to open the channel. Third, there is nothing on the boobooloon to attach to the collar or neck, making it easy to take off. The dog just slapped the couch, knocking it over slightly. I do not recommend this. I got a $10 ZenCollar from the vet office. The principle is the same (an inflatable collar to prevent the dock from licking the surgical site or wound), but the level of performance and quality is much higher. Your inflatable tube is covered with a durable fabric cover (washable) with velcro that forms a full ring around the neck. There are also three attached nylon rings for threading a regular dog collar, making it almost impossible for a dog to remove the inflatable collar. This product worked very well - my dog was able to eat, drink and move around the house with no problems, but was unable to lick the surgical site. The dog also falls asleep easily.
