Bright and durable, algae growth, harmful to live plants

I have two of these lights, one for my 20 inch 10 gallon aquarium and the other for my 48 40 Gallon Aquarium . Tank. Pros: This is a great starting light. It works for a very long time and works perfectly. It's nice and bright. I like the day and night settings. It is very durable. on a string. Cons: My 48" flashlight started to sag/bend in the middle within 3 months of use. It's very gentle, although it doesn't seem to cause any problems. The light still works well and the curvature hasn't deteriorated. It just sank a bit to a point and then just stayed there. This light has a very bad habit of growing algae. Even my employee at the pet store told me that he often complains of algae because of this light. Just don't leave the lights on more than 8 hours a day and be sure to remove the algae with weekly water changes. BAD FOR LIVING PLANTS. My plants are AFRAID of growing under this light. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR LIVING PLANTS. Overall, as said, this is a really good flashlight for a beginner or basic setup. For your first installation, it will be beautiful and bright, easy to use, strong and durable. It's pretty water resistant. Just wipe it off when you splash water on it and you'll be fine. Just watch out for those algae.
