Nice desktop helper!

So I needed an adapter to replace the separate readers and hub I used to use. Since I wanted to use it with a desktop computer, I needed the longest cable I could find. Found this product and decided to use it. Since I mainly use it on the desktop, the display output or external power functions were unusable for me. However, the rest proved to be lifesavers for my workflow. If I just plug in this device, I would have got a USB 3.0 card reader, 2 USB 3.0 Type-A ports, 1 USB 3.1 Type-C port, and audio-out. This one device replaced 3 other USB devices I had previously used. As long as your motherboard has at least one USB 3.1 Type-C port on the back, you're fine. Tested on Linux and Windows. Both work out of the box. What surprised me the most was the audio output. My motherboard sound was dying so it was a good replacement until I could get a DAC/amp. However, I'm not sure if I should even get one. Built-in AMP is loud enough for my use case. Can it be compared to a good dedicated DAC/amp? Not quite, but I'm using Linux, so I'm really out of luck when it comes to audio amp compatibility. If you have good headphones and the sound is gone on your computer, this is a good replacement. Again, I can't test the optional power adapter or HDMI output as they're useless for a desktop setup. Also, I don't think it's a good idea to add extra power through a hub as it seems to work fine with my motherboard. Otherwise, I strongly recommend using it for desktops. The length is perfect for that. If you have a laptop, make sure you need the actual cable length. Otherwise there is a long roll on the table.
