Review on ARRIS Surfboard S33 Multi Gigabit Ethernet by Bradley Stewart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small and fast. Works with Cox.

I finally decided to buy a modem instead of renting it from Cox. First impressions when it arrived was that it was small and quite slim. I've heard from a few people online that they are having trouble activating their Arris modem with Cox. First, yes, this modem (S33) is compatible with Cox. I confirmed with a Cox representative prior to purchase. The activation process was pretty easy. I connected this modem and used my cell phone's hotspot to contact Cox support via live chat. I gave the Cox agent the modem's model number, serial number, and MAC number (all three of which are clearly marked on the modem's label). Activation took about 10 minutes. Pretty painless. My takeoff speeds seem to be at least as fast as my rental Cox Panoramic model/router. In general, I think almost anyone with enough technical knowledge can easily install this modem. However, remember that you need to connect it to a separate WiFi router. This unit does seem to get a little warm, but I don't expect that to be a problem.
