Review on 🌩️ High-speed Thunderbolt USB 3.0 2 TB Portable Hard Drive- Buffalo MiniStation (Silver) by Maria Skim

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Recommend these silent external drives for their quiet musical dynamics and reliability!

5400 RPM mechanical drives have the advantage of playing music, offer more dynamic range than flash drives, and can be powered by the computer itself, eliminating the additional noise interference of the AC adapters required for the drives at a speed of 7200 rpm is avoided. These compact Thunderbolt drives from Buffalo are quiet, have low noise when listening to music and contain an unnecessary source of sound distortion due to the six stainless steel magnetic locking screws inside. If you want to fix this, remove the top of the disc (which is held inside with some glue) by gently working around the edges with a screwdriver for 10 minutes. You can then take six 5mm 4/40 brass pan head screws from a hardware store or McMaster-Carr and replace those magnetic stainless steel retaining screws inside. This gives your music more clarity and better sound. I've found that when you put a piece of MuMetal between two pieces of cork under a floppy disk drive, the music comes out. (Placing a FoQ/Faraday cloth or anything inside the drive will only cause it to overheat.) If the drive is being used with a Mac, I recommend selecting "GUID Partition Map" under "Scheme" and either "APFS" or " APFS Encrypted” to select "Format” when erasing a disc. Disk in Disk Utility. While it's true that APFS was designed as a much faster and more efficient file/metadata system for flash drives, it also works well on mechanical discs and reproduces musical sounds as if they were played more easily and with less drag. I highly recommend these discs. .
