I am impressed with the strength and apparent quality of this gander considering how inexpensive it is. Instead of using it to mount a microphone, I made homemade end brackets for it and mounted it on my car's center console (under the stereo) as a flexible phone mount. I use my phone to play music on my car stereo via bluetooth and it's nice to be able to use the speakerphone and just keep my phone within reach. Experience has shown that it is surprisingly strong and does not sag at all even when it is almost fully extended. The mic might be a bit heavier than my phone, but I'd be surprised if that weight difference caused this part to fall.
