The clipper is well made and brand new with no hair or other signs of previous ownership as others have stated. The weight is comfortable - they're heavy enough to speak of quality, but not so heavy that they're unwieldy or tiring. Although they are not the quietest trimmers, they are not as loud as, for example, the Oster 77 Classic hair clippers. I know this isn't an apples-to-apples comparison, but this is the best point of reference one can give without being a hairstylist. My son is sensitive to loud noises and they weren't a problem for him. In my opinion, these trimmers are definitely professional quality. I've had plenty of Wahls and Osters that were cheaper than Target or Walmart (I've been a curmudgeon all my life) and they don't come close in terms of clean finish and sharpness. , a well-defined lineup. I'm not a particularly hairy guy - I can't grow a full beard or goatee - but the trimmers easily managed to get the hairs sticking out from under my neck and they have the sharpest, cleanest edges on my mustache and the hair around me made chin. (I won't call this a goatee as it doesn't "connect" on the sides.) The work I was able to do looked pretty good considering this was my first time using real trimmers used. One last thing to note is that these trimmers can be zero clearance, which means the swing blade and fixed blade can be aligned to be perfectly level with each other for the tightest possible cut. I've done this with mine and haven't had any scrapes or cuts on my skin. That always happens in the barbershop, but not with them and not with me. If you're at the limit, don't be afraid to jump in and make a purchase. You're worth it.
