Bought 981 to get rid of the hair on two of my Golden Retrievers. Solid little vacuum but it could be better. If you are a pet owner and you are looking for a robot that completely replaces your participation in activities, this is not it. If you're looking for a helper who vacuums on time and keeps things tidy between cleanings, then this Roomba might be for you. Pros: Suction feels good and the vacuum adapts well when going from hard floor to carpet. After completion, he found the base constantly alone. It cleans the edges well and is small enough to fit in places I wasn't expecting (like under the bed). The iRobot app seems to work fine and you can see the map Roomba creates at the end of each job. The battery lasts about an hour for carpet work. The device will return by itself if it needs extra charging to complete its work. I had no problem getting my hair tangled in rollers. Cons: You can't use the app to tell this Roomba exactly which area you want to vacuum. I understand that some of the more expensive models allow this. Unfortunately, that means closing doors or buying expensive sensors if you want to limit the path. If you have areas you don't want it to work in, consider more expensive models rather than spending money on sensors. He's not good at collecting hair from my two goldens. However, the side brushes do a good job of picking up hair, letting it tangle into balls that are easy enough to pick up. I vacuum every day, helps comb my hair between cleanings. The basket is quite small and needs to be emptied frequently, especially if you have pets. Although it's supposed to vacuum in neat rows, I've found my Roomba to try a pass or two and then randomly start up. Sometimes it goes back to strings. As a result, my living room carpet is often not completely vacuumed. Difficulties sometimes arise when transitioning from rug to rug when the edge of the rug tries to turn over during the transition. Overall, this is a solid little vacuum, but if you're looking for more custom vacuuming power, you might need to check out the I7. or C9. If you have pets, this won't completely replace vacuuming, but it will help you stay clean between jobs.
