Steam just added support for the Switch controller and lo and behold, my trusty Xbox 360 controller started behaving. This controller is low priced, it should work, why not give it a try? There will definitely be people looking for information on how this controller works with a PC after support was added and I couldn't find anything so here is that review. The best thing about this controller is the length of the cable, which I had to coil up on my desk a few times to keep it from literally sitting on top of everything, but that's a good thing! I could easily sit across the room from my screen and have a spare cable. Unfortunately, this was the only good thing I had with this controller. The first thing I noticed was how uncomfortable it is. The back of the controller isn't deep enough for your hands to rest on the grips, so I kept moving my fingers to find a comfortable position, which I never found. The angles of the grips are also a bit off, and the slight angle he placed my hands in relation to my forearm led to some discomfort after a while that was very similar to an incorrect keyboard position. Finally, by controller standards, it weighs next to nothing and is a bit heavy. It's more of a personal preference, but it seems very cheap anyway. Another thing that caught my eye right away is that the flip-flops are not analog input. These are numeric keys. This can cause problems for those who can play racing games or anything related to driving cars, flying planes, etc. e. Some may not mind, but I know some will, which is why I mentioned it. Regarding its functionality I have seen several outlets saying that I can plug this controller into my PC, Steam would say "Oh hey controller!" and it will work fine. This couldn't be further from the truth. Steam did recognize the controller, but I had to manually enable the settings (doesn't matter), and switching the button assignments to a more typical "Xbox-style" layout was easy. I was running a game only to find that the triggers don't work, the right stick only moves up and down and the left stick only moves left and right. That's normal, teething is normal, just reschedule and move on. Remapping didn't fix the triggers and restarting the game reset the controls. Rocket League was next! The menu worked great, the buttons worked fine, but the triggers didn't work at all. Went into mappings and made sure they were assigned correctly for what they were but nothing happened. At this point I was 2-for-2 on the losing front and played around with it for a couple of hours. For a PC gamer looking for a controller, this isn't the best choice. It looks cool and inexpensive, but this is where you have to step back and ask if you want "look cool" or something designed primarily to work with the PC. I'm sure it will work fine with the Switch and chances are all my issues were on Steam's side, but at the time of writing this controller isn't the best option on the market today.
