Review on Audio-Technica AT-LPW40WN Review: Fully Manual Belt-Drive Turntable with 2 Speeds and Dynamic Anti-Skate Control by Justin Cranford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Looks great, sounds great, nothing more.

While looking for a new turntable I did a lot of research and settled on the AT-LPW40WN and I'm glad I did. I've looked at the U-Turn, Pro-Ject DC, Fluance RT 81, and others, and while they all look like good TTs, the deciding factor for me was a feature that maintains an accurate and consistent speed. Everyone else has commented on disc speed differences, and for me nothing is more annoying than hearing your music sound different because it's too fast or too slow. This table is beautiful in appearance and easy to install and operate. One of the few tables where anti-skating really works! The carbon fiber tonearm looks fantastic and the whole unit is solidly built. And about €100 less than the competition, that's no problem for me. Sonically, this is the best TT I've ever used and I've had quite a few.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Periodicity
