Classy in form and function - a terrific bag

Update 10/03/2017: About a year and a half later, I'm still loving these camera bags. They've traveled across the country several times, been shoved under van seats and perched on top of salt-coated beach rocks, tripped over, lightly tossed, packed and unpacked at least a couple hundred of times, and they still look just like they did when I bought them and have always protected the precious contents. The fabric and dark color are AWESOME and hide travel grunge well, and my parents, who spent a LOT more on their camera bags always look at them a bit jealously. ;) Still loving the that straps pivot so they never get twisted. We've worn them for hours with a heavy camera inside and it's still pretty comfy, and the straps adjust to fit everyone from my 6yr old to my husband. The only negative I've experienced thus far is that the side pockets that snap with one button snap down can sometimes come undone, leaving things exposed, and even when snapped, do not protect small things from falling out. One of my card adapters is now lost forever in Yellowstone because I'd leaned over to pick something up with the camera bag slung back on my hip and it slid out of the side of the buttoned pocket, falling right down in between the slats of the walking bridge over part of the Grand Prismatic Spring. No way I was going after that! Luckily, it was just an adapter and not a memory card full of. well, memories. Now, any small things go right in the main zippered compartment. The zippers, by the way, are still holding up strong, despite pretty regular use. I fully expect these bags to last us several more years at this rate of use/light abuse. Absolutely no buyer's remorse here! :)*************************************************************************************************************************************************I was looking for a cute, different case for my family's Nikon 5100, 5000, and D80 cameras. I was torn between either this one or the similar Evecase Compact DSLR / SLR Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera Holster Carrying Bag Case - Gray Small Canvas, so I decided to get both to see which one fit best. I ended up keeping both! I posted some pictures with this review so you can see how they compare.Packing: This case came to me in a plastic bag inside a brown ebay box and had a silica packet inside the bag to absorb moisture.Bag appearance: The canvas used on the outside is nice and thick, textured but not too rough. The fabric color is a pretty charcoal grey and the metal snaps, zippers, and strap clips are antiqued bronze. The buckle strap on the front pocket is just decorative - it closes with a metal snap hidden beneath it. The pockets are all lined with a soft shiny synthetic pale grey fabric and the inside main compartment is padded very well with a soft gray fleece fabric. The overall effect is very classy and would suit both men and women.Pockets: There's a small zippered pocket on the outside back, a large pocket in the front that closes with a metal snap, a pocket on each side that close with a metal snap, and 2 stretchy black mesh pockets on the underside of the case's lid inside. The main compartment closes with a heavy-duty zipper. There are 2 detachable seperators inside the main part of the bag that have velcro on the ends, meaning you can adjust them any way you'd like to cradle your equipment. I tried a few different ways until I found what worked best for me.Shoulder strap: The strap is made of what seems like thick nylon and is adjustable. I wear it as a cross-body strap (over on shoulder, bag resting on the opposite hip) and it works great. My husband wears his on one shoulder and it works great for him. There's a slightly padded shoulder pad that can be moved to where you need it so the strap doesn't dig into your neck/shoulder no matter how you wear it. The best feature of the strap is the way the heavy-duty clips that attach to the bag pivot, meaning you NEVER get a twisted strap! :DWhat you can fit: I fit my Nikon 5100 in the main compartment, lens down with a 18-55mm lens, UV filter AND lens cap on it. To the side of that I have my 70-300mm zoom lens w/ lens and end caps, plus a lens cleaner pen, seperated from my camera and held in place with one of the soft velcroed pieces curved around. It's a perfect fit. In the front pocket I can fit 2 lens cases (a polarizer and ND filter), in one side pocket I have my micro lens and in the other a tiny memory card case, extra battery, and some cleaning cloths. I printed and laminated a cheat sheet with shutter/ISO/aperature, and store it folded in one of the mesh pockets on the inside part of the top. Everything fits like it was made for it!Quality: Terrific quality! I feel like this case will last for years. The stiching and materials are high quality.Customer service: When I received this bag, I noticed that one of my snaps was broken - the top part of the snap was stuck on the bottom part. Not a huge issue but I wanted my new bag to be whole and perfect. I messaged customer service and they responded quickly, sending me out a new bag right away. Since then I have received several emails wanting to make sure everything is as expected and it is.Scent: Sometimes cloth products have a strong chemical smell to them - this didn't have any scent at all.Between this or the similar Evecase Compact DSLR / SLR Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera Holster Carrying Bag Case - Gray Small Canvas: I'd go with this in a heartbeat. There's more space for extra things, and it's only feels slightly bigger. However, if you only have a camera and want something smaller, go with the Micro Four Thirds. All in all: AWESOME. I've already received many compliments on my bag and would not hesitate to suggest it to people looking for an alternative to the usual boring black case.Hope this helps! :)

Pros
  • The adjustable shoulder strap and padded handle provide comfortable carrying options for extended periods of time
Cons
  • The bag may not be very professional-looking
