I've never sharpened my knives before so after watching a short YouTube video I sharpened all my knives with it. I didn't have a 1000 grit stone so I just did a few extra passes on the 5000 grit side before switching to the 10000 grit side. My results have been excellent and my knives are sharper than they were 3 years ago when they were brand new were! If you want to sharpen your own knives, this is very good.
