Didn't use a timer. Need more for mantel design this year. They provide real joie de vivre, look like real candles without smoke and risk. I usually take out batteries from Christmas to Christmas so they last longer. Some of them burn batteries during summer storage. I tape the batteries to a piece of cardboard and store them along with candles.
