I just got a new camera. Wanted a microphone. And this one caught my attention. It looked good so I decided to give it a try. The packaging is nice because it protects the mic during transit and comes in a small "tray" that some might use to store the mic. Once I unpacked it, installation was easy. Slide the mount onto the microphone, slide the mount into the camera's hot shoe, tighten the locking ring, connect the cable to the back of the microphone and the side of the camera, and you're done. The microphone test is how it sounds. I decided to make a video (my first) and just talk a little. I didn't use anything to change sound quality, volume, etc. I shot videos in my studio, where the metal walls often reverberate through the footage. The sound quality is good to my satisfaction! This microphone is suitable for general use. The shock mount is a bit of a concern (but it's a very common design) as it feels a little flimsy to be flexible and light enough to get the job done. I'm also interested in UV resistance for long periods of time in direct sunlight. On the other hand, the blurred windshield feels very good. The mic's size is ideal for use with a camera, and the pickup pattern tends to drown out sound coming from the rear and sides. This is excellent value for money!
