One piece cable. Does what it does and does it well. They also don't emit bloody static like some of the others I've unfortunately experienced. Note: This is a headset extension cable, which means it has 4 pins for audio transmission (left, right stereo) and microphone. You can tell this by looking at the male end of the extension cord and you will see 3 black stripes surrounding the gold connector. Don't make the mistake of buying a cheaper audio extender that has 3 pins and only transmits sound (!) if you also want to extend a headset with a microphone.
