Got this for my bearded dragon terrarium because desert lizards need low humidity, but this thing creates more moisture in the air than it sort of removes. I don't know how they did it, but they did it. It was hard to get below 50% humidity in the terrarium with this thing, that's with this dehydrator and one of those rechargeable dehumidifier packs that are made for gun cabinets. . We emptied the tank regularly every few days and it never got more than half full. it has rained a lot in the last few months. The good news is that this thing broke after 3 months of use and then the next day the humidity reached and stayed in the desired 20-30% range on its own. To recap, it only took three months and actually works better as a poor humidifier than as a dehumidifier in the very tight space of a 55 gallon tank. However, it is fairly quiet and fits into fairly small spaces. Looks pretty snazzy, so if you want a paperweight with white noise and don't mind the extra moisture on the shelf, sure. The thing is good for several months. However, after about three months, the fan motor fails and makes really annoying noises. Which is still fine in theory, because you can just turn off the fan and the lights still work or whatever, so you still have your plush paperweight; but to be honest you have to pry it open to open it and then superglue or glue the case back in place so it's just not worth the hassle in my opinion. I'm struggling to find a single correct use for this item. I don't like it, it just doesn't really do anything, but ends up getting on your nerves after exposing your pet lizard to conditions that can cause breathing problems.
