Review on 5 Sets Of Black Polyhedral Dice W/ Velvet Bag - Perfect For D&D, RPG & MTG! by Keith Howe

Colors may be misleading

(All Photos are taken in natural sunlight)I am a little disappointed in this set.Let's start with the good things first. The bag they come in is a nice felt bag with a silk-like inside and is big enough to hold extra sets or your whole fist with ease, it has a bottom to it so it can stand up and pulls close fully. The dice all passed the balance test, though keep in mind other’s results may vary so it's always good to do your own balance tests to assure they don’t favor rolling to one side over the other. There are many videos out there to show you how. They also passed a drop test and came out with no damage so they’ll survive several miss-rolls and tumbles off a table onto a hard floor. Or in our case, a tumble down a flight of wooden stairs to a hardwood floor. Now for the not-so-good things. The colors on the images are a bit misleading and two of the dice sets came out mostly solid in color with a little hint of the secondary color. The colors included are:Pink and BlackBlack and PurpleMagenta and PinkWhat looks like a reddish-pink and yellowand………….skin tone and brown? The photos on the product make it look like one set would be Orange and Yellow. But as my set came out almost solid with very little yellow in most of the dice, it’s definitely more of a pink hue.The other set… The photos made it look to be white and light brown/gold color, making me think of them vanilla caramel ice creams, and is the set I was looking forward to. But that isn’t the color even in the slightest. The light hue is a skin/flesh color, some sort of pink/peach. The darker is a gray/brown that isn’t all that appealing, at least to me.As for the solid colors, I get these are colored materials poured into a mold so the mixing of two colors may not always be even for everyone, more so when dealing with solid colors. But some quality check to see if a dice came out nearly a single color would have been nice. Not saying every face of the dice needs to show all colors, but when you have a few dice where the only hint of the secondary color is on a single point or very VERY faint swirls… maybe think of redoing it?Overall the only dice I like in this set are the Black and Pink, and the Black and Purple. The Magenta and Pink is mostly Magenta, The ‘Orange’ and Yellow well. isn’t ‘Orange’ and Yellow and also came out mostly ‘Orange’, And I did not expect the other to be flesh tone and an odd grayish brown.

Pros
  • The black color gives the dice a sleek and modern look
Cons
  • The velvet bag is not suitable for players who prefer a more masculine or feminine design
