Belt stretch is weak and keeps stretching

The quality of this belt is OK but it stretches and stretches to the point where it's useless and won't hold my pants. I cut off about 5 inches from the belt and repositioned the end but to no avail. The stretch is very weak. It's a shame because otherwise I would have used it a lot.
