NETGEAR EX7000-100NAR Refurb for NOT winning! (So โ€‹โ€‹far this is NOT good).

Update: Over time the problem with my Nighthawk EX7000 got worse and worse. From restarting the repeater every few months to weeks, then every few days, and factory resets have been done to the fullest. Had to do 3 factory resets every 10 minutes last weekend. Now an expensive useless broken object. I have some really old G-band routers that still work great. The new Netgear devices are poorly processed with dubious programmed firmware. A few months of near-acceptable performance, followed by years of nightmarish maintenance of this thing to test the value of my investment, makes this a "don't buy" recommendation from me. WAS 5 stars, now 1: Refurbished but looks and works like new. Our previous single band extender, which was 1) cheap and 2) a few years old and with outdated technology, couldn't meet our needs (2 or 3 HD video streams, 7 Android devices, and a hardcore gamer). The Nighthawk is capable of faster speeds than the router provided by the cable company, so the only bottleneck is the inevitable distance between the router and the extender. I'm using the Fastlane setup to try and get more throughput, and while I haven't run an A/B test with and without Fastlane, it seemed slightly faster. Setup was very easy with more settings configured automatically than our previous TP-Link router used as a range extender. It might not be as flexible in terms of options, but the Nighthawk does what it's supposed to do and does it well with minimal fuss. New product.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Periodicity
