It's impossible to shield your eyes from this light. I feel like the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is in our living room and it's a big room. It is too much. We had to take a smaller LED with a cap and install it in place of the spiral light strip that came with it. The only reason we didn't return it is because it's beautiful and in rose gold, which is hard to find. The remote control beeps and you can't put it on a dimmer because the dimmer also affects the performance of the fan. My husband is an electrician so we were able to make adjustments but still can't use the dimmer. Annoying beeping from the remote control or a beeping when turning on the light switch. If you don't mind an on/off beep instead of a power outage and a beacon to signal aliens, that's great. If you don't mind repeating some things or getting help from an expert, this might still work for you.
