is functional and ideal for 16" and smaller laptops that weigh less than 8 pounds. If Nukoi Ultimate were advertised as such, it would be an easy 5-star rating. Unfortunately, I am deducting a star due to exaggerated marketing claims such as laminar airflow and a grossly exaggerated weight limit. I've been using this type of stand for the last few years after switching from desktop to laptop at work and in my experience this type of stand is a must have. - Have an accessory when you sit in front of your laptop every day. This stand can elevate your laptop display from 3 to 12+ inches and provides the right ergonomics and posture when used with a separate keyboard and mouse. Also a nice added benefit is the extra desk space you can put anything on the base of the stand. In terms of airflow requirements, vents do exist, of course, but they're mostly for aesthetics since most laptop air intakes are on the back rather than the center. Without a fan and dedicated duct, it is impossible to create or otherwise promote true laminar flow. It is actually important that your laptop's feet can rest on the top deck so that there is a gap between your computer and the stand. For this reason I do not recommend this product for 17" laptops - my 17" gaming laptop has legs that are too far apart so this stand presses directly onto the bottom cover of my device. Even though this stand advertises a weight limit of 22 or 44 pounds, the actual weight limit is much lower. I tested this statement by folding panels of 5 pound dumbbells and found that they failed to hold their shape above 15 pounds. In my opinion, the maximum weight that the friction arm will hold securely in place is maybe 10 pounds, and that's true for the vast majority of laptops. Part of the Nukoi Ultimate's aesthetic is the thin bracket, but it also means that the top deck is more prone to warp and wobble on wider, heavier laptops. The stand feels solid with a 4-pound, 15.6-inch laptop, but an 8-pound, 17-inch makes it less sturdy. Compared to my existing laptop stand, the Nukoi Ultimate has several standout features. Although the top and bottom are the same size, this stand looks better and is significantly lighter, but still strong. This stand weighs 2.4 pounds and is made from 3mm thick aluminum alloy. My existing stand weighs 3 pounds and is thicker 3.6mm thick aluminum alloy. I particularly like the clever arrangement of the Nukoi Ultimate's large anti-slip strips and feet. I also appreciate that the top plate and base align well when the stand is folded, making it easier to pack and travel.
