I have not used this for vacuum testing. I used it to check the fuel pump delivery pressure. Note that the instructions state that it cannot be used to check fuel pressure on systems with an electric fuel pump, only on systems with a mechanical fuel pump. This gauge has a 1/4" barbed hose connector that is permanently attached to the gauge. Some photos show what appears to be a threaded/interchangeable fitting, but the gauge I received was not designed that way. 4" resulted in having to visit my local auto parts store to find an adapter to connect to my 3/8" fuel line. This will be a typical problem for most US motor vehicle fuel systems. The sensor showed good results in this mode and reading zero. removed from box and properly reset to zero after testing, has an outside diameter of approximately 4" and is rubber encased for durability. Results were reasonable and I'm sure accurate. The brass fittings package in the body proved very useful for fitting into manifold taps, however I cannot confirm the pitch or thread size Had there been a choice of matching sizes/types I probably would have given 5 stars. Pretty good product for the price. I can recommend it.
