This wiring configuration helped me connect my laptop audio port/port and Android audio port/port to my Bose speaker on my desk in one combo mono audio line. I often want to be able to listen to music from my phone or switch to videos from my laptop - this setup allows me to listen to both without having to switch audio cables back and forth between my phone and laptop. It's really handy and I haven't had any issues with the cables themselves. As you'd expect, I can hear a slight hum coming from the speaker when one of the audio input jacks is muted and open (ie I don't have one of the input jacks connected to my mobile phone) - this is a simple solution. Just keep the plug away from power sources. Overall, I am very happy with this product and have no plans to swap it out for any other cable!
