I left it on the whole time because I needed some kind of non-stop sound. Only 3 weeks of use and it died, won't turn on. I suspect the power system is poorly designed. Rechargeable devices, when fully charged, should stop drawing power from the battery when connected to an AC power source and should instead draw them directly from the connected power source. Only when it is unplugged from the mains should it automatically switch to battery power, otherwise it will continue to charge the battery, which will shorten battery life. Full charging and manual shutdown to switch to battery power also reduces battery life, because why would you need battery power all the time when it's still connected to AC power? Not thoughtful design.
