Review on Keychron K1 Bluetooth Mechanical Keyboards by Sara Mahoney

Received broken cap

Unfortunately, as mentioned in other low-scoring reviews, Keychron seems to have very poor quality control. I received this keyboard yesterday and was very excited to try the flat blue switch. However, my excitement didn't last long when I saw this defective cap (first photo). I saw one of the previous reviews that said there was no further support for this product after purchase. I've contacted Keychron about a replacement so I'll let you know how it goes. If they don't get back to me within the return period or simply won't send me a replacement, I think this keyboard should be gone. As for the typing feel, it will take me more time to get a better feel for the very tactile feel, but I've found that the feedback isn't the same across keyboards. Some letter keys feel stiffer than other keys. However, this may be related to the new keyboard and I will report on that. This is my very first low profile blue switch. There's less travel compared to regular blue switches, but it's not as tiring. Overall the typing feel is okay but looks cheap and as you can see in the second picture the edges of some of the plastic caps aren't cut well leaving some scraps stuck around the edges. profile profile mechanical wireless keyboard available in the market. I'm on the verge of returning this keyboard, but knowing there aren't any other great options, and since it prints, I'm reconsidering and hesitant to return it. hmmmmmmUPDATE April 9, 2021: tldr: I don't recommend this keyboard, but it's probably the only low-profile, Bluetooth-enabled mechanical keyboard with multi-device connectivity and under $100. I have her back but I miss her. I ended up returning the keyboard due to poor bluetooth connection and "sticky key" issues where the keys repeat but don't get physically stuck. The sticky button issue doesn't happen with a wired connection, but I wanted to use it wirelessly for a clean room and for use with a tablet and phone. I contacted Keychron about damaged keycaps and luckily they sent me a replacement. The replacement was shipped from China so it took about a month to complete. Poor bluetooth connection was mentioned in some other reviews but I thought I could do without it but oh my god I was wrong. I don't play games, but typing is crucial for me. From time to time, when connecting via Bluetooth, a "sticky problem" occurs when the keys are repeated (e.g. thiiiiiiiiiiiis). I had to power cycle my keyboard to get rid of this sticky issue. I didn't want to return this keyboard as it's probably the only low-profile mechanical keyboard that supports Bluetooth connectivity for multiple devices and costs under $100, but I had to as it failed due to a poor Bluetooth connection could not be used. and problems with sticky buttons. The poor bluetooth connection and sticky keys issue seemed to be known issues as you can see in several other reviews and on Reddit. I saw this post on Reddit that you can solve this problem by buying a bluetooth dongle with an extension cable and placing it very close to the keyboard. I thought it was ridiculous that you had to do this for a stable Bluetooth connection, so I returned the keyboard. So if you plan to use it with a wire I really recommend it. If you plan on using it wirelessly, I don't recommend it.
