I have these brushes for two purposes. First, like a comb, yes. Another reason was to comb the carpet without breaking teeth like I used plastic combs. With a couple of cats and a wife, I was tired of having my hair pulled in the vacuum when I had to clip it off the roll if I caught it in time, or burn through the belt if I didn't. I just found it easier to quickly brush the carpet before vacuuming to relieve stress. When used this way, they are amazing! Like a hair comb they suck big time. As other reviewers have said they are sharp and pull hair even if they are short and just washed out of the shower. Good for the price as a carpet comb set, not so much for its intended purpose.
