Beautiful stone, good weight, well designed and balanced. Ideal for small amounts that need to be shredded, shredded or shredded. The inside of the mortar and pestle head are unglazed for good frictional contact. Some people have complained that the non-slip pad on the bottom fell off in the washing machine. I would never put my mortar or pestle in the dishwasher. The stone is porous and can absorb dishwasher detergent and rinse aid. Turning the bowl upside down and spraying the interior with a kitchen spray bottle in the sink is pretty much enough. For heavier residue, simply hold the solution in one hand while wiping the inside with a soapy sponge. Then hold upside down and rinse with kitchen spray. Wipe dry with a lint-free cloth and allow to air dry completely. It also looks great on the counter!
