UPDATE: We've had the Sony 3D Blu-ray disc player for three years now. WiFi hasn't worked for a few weeks. I've tried turning off the player and restarting the router and modem. The TV and other wireless devices still connect fine, so it must be a player. Around the same time, we noticed some playback glitches, especially when we were just starting to watch a movie or show. Part of this could be because I performed a factory reset that was recommended on the Sony forums. This didn't work and updates may have been removed, which of course we can no longer do due to a problem with the WiFi connection. We never move the player; there's no reason for the part to suddenly deteriorate so much. I do not recommend this player.----------------------------- -------- ---- -------------------------------------- -------- ---- -------------------------------------- -------- ---- ---------- We have had our Sony 3D Blu-ray Disc Player for almost two years now. Most often we hooked it up to a Sharp Aquos HDTV using the standard video and audio cables we use with VCRs and DVD players. Picture and sound on the TV were good; I attribute most of the sound problems to the fact that the sound for the movies was poorly mixed (some sound effects or music were booming, when the voices of the actors were too low). Starting this player is a bit slow. I saw this in several reviews before purchasing and it didn't annoy me as much as it did my husband. If you want to get your movies up and running fast, don't buy this model. Sometimes when we turned it on, WAIT flashed for a long time, and after waiting a few minutes, we gave up and forced the shutdown with the power button on the player. Wait a bit and turn it back on and it will be found normally. It was very annoying. A few weeks ago we bought an LG 3D TV. We connected our game with a long HDMI cable. We had intermittent problems with the sound and the fact that the TV could not recognize and receive information from the player. We switched to a different HDMI port and it worked fine for a few hours, then we started having problems again. We switched to a shorter HDMI cable, went back to port 1 on the TV and after a few days we see some other issues. Today when we turned it on for the first time, it didn't recognize the player. We turned it off and then on again and the player's menu appeared on the screen, then the player restarted. What is the problem I've had a few times lately but I can't remember if it started before we got the new TV. We then got a red static screen, turned the player off, turned it back on and it worked fine, while we watched a few short video streams about the Sony 3D Experience. I turned on the Blu-ray and the menu didn't appear until I had to leave the room for twenty minutes. When I came back the red static screen was back on. I've never had this before. It's not clear to me if the red static screen is due to the HDMI cables or if it's a TV compatibility issue. The restart problem can really only lie with the player. I bought Sony thinking it was the company that invented Blu-ray so they should know what they are doing with this technology but I when I had to leave the room for twenty minutes.
