First of all, the filter is an ideal replacement. My Dyson turned on and off, turned on and off, turned on and off. I called Dyson customer service and they told me to send it to an authorized service center. It didn't make sense because it would work without the filter and my hand over the hole. The vacuum cleaner is 3 months old and was used once a day for a small cleaning. The new filter from AMAZON worked perfectly. I compared it to the one that came with it. The rubber gasket on the original was flat and did not seal. I took the old one and edited it to take its original shape. Now the original works. At least I have a spare when I wash another. Note: I called Dyson back and told them what I found and then asked them to send me a replacement filter as the original was defective and I spent an hour trying to fix the original. rep and it was never mentioned as a possible problem. The rep was so rude that Dyson will never be my choice again. (I have their fan, vertical and vertical, but if the Dyson service is like that, well, never again.) As always, AMAZON did a fantastic job of completing the order with great speed.
