This slicer is ideal for medium-hard to soft cheese, e.g. Cheddar to mozzarella. I actually bought two slicers together. The other is a counter model to the tough Jarlsberg that we like. This food slicer is comfortable to hold, easy to use and easy to clean with a dish brush thanks to the smooth surface. The cutting wire is thin and cuts the above cheeses cleanly without undue resistance. This thin wire makes it impractical for very hard cheeses. Highly recommend with a reservation about hard cheeses.
