This seems perfect for my application. It's a metal well made, well machined and finished. With proper care, it should last a long time. When I first bought a one-ton digital scale like this, it seemed like I'd have to shell out a few hundred dollars for a decent one. So I'm happy to find these for significantly less. I didn't know it had a remote control until I ordered it. So that's a nice bonus. I was wrong thinking that a large red LED would work fine in sunlight. I don't know if LCD reading would be easier. In any case, I can shade the readings if needed, or work with readings to be shaded. I like that it uses standard size batteries instead of built in nickel cadmium batteries or a special type.
