This mod is for those who have photo strobes, continuous CFLs or LED lights on video stands and want to create a softer option. soft light, easy to assemble. Flexibility with different types of permanent lamps. The build quality is good. Disadvantages: Limited tilting ability due to the light stand running underneath. The umbrella stand can be a few centimeters longer. In my application I used it with a set of large corn cob light bulbs (equivalent to 500W) for video recording. Since corncobs are very long, they reach the limits of screen depth and screen stem length. This works, but the result is that the light is fixed fairly parallel. Considering their size and round shape, they still gave off a fairly even soft light, so the lack of tilt didn't matter much. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an inexpensive modifier option that's larger than a regular softbox and looking to add some extra life to their bulb-based steady-state lighting options. I'm sure they will work well with flash units for flash photography. IMO this isn't for you if you use LED panels.
