we put them on our cats the day they arrived. The boy lost his almost immediately but he has a habit of losing collars in general and I think he hides them because we never found one that he lost. On the girl, on the other hand, so far (almost 2 months have passed). It doesn't bother her at all, the bow doesn't seem to bother her and it doesn't seem to itch. We took the bells off before putting the collars on them because both cats hate bells so I can't comment on that. The quality is good and the pattern is very cute. I'm glad it came in a pink/blue package because we have littermates, boys and girls, but I think it would be nice if there was pink/pink and blue/blue as well.
