Like others who reviewed this item, I couldn't wear it with running shoes. I found them too big (I bought the small ones because I'm a size 8.5) and got my toes caught in the shoes making it impossible to walk comfortably. This is great if you plan on walking around the house barefoot. I bought these on the recommendation of a podiatrist after breaking my ankle (and after wearing boots for 6 weeks). At least I didn't buy it from his office for $101 and only spent $35. I've used it for a few days without socks and with heel risers, but it wasn't perfect. I would recommend getting a good pair of high walking shoes. I did and I had more than enough ankle support.
