I'm a mechanic and I change the oil frequently. Most oil filter pliers are straight, and it's okay if the filter is just outside with no obstructions. However, they are great for hard-to-reach filters. I can't say they work for everything, but they do an excellent job on 90% of the spiral filters I come across. Also, the teeth bite into the metal and seem to have more grip than other brands I've used. The handle is soft and remains grippy even when soaked in oil. worth your money! The only improvement I would like to add to them is a recoil spring so they open on their own.
