Definitely big for my opinion
Has a lot of room to grow into. I bought a couple of these for 3-6 month, and they fit extremely loosely. My lil one still hasn't grown into them yet (fitting into 6-9 month currently). Slightly thick but light material. Biggest downside is the mittens don't stay put, as they fold into the palm of the hand, not over the back where they can't just wiggle their fingers through. If you're ordering this in an attempt to minimize scratches, this is a no-go.
