This is my second Sanitaire. The other which is about 3 years old is used on a commercial cleaning account and was great. I am a carpet cleaner and this was bought to pre-vacuum carpets. I also bought a bag that uses paper bags because I'm not a fan of the shake bag, it's dirty and doesn't filter as well. Buy parts to keep them running. You will change the straps regularly, that's just a fraction and it doesn't matter much. The brushroll is good and works, but not great. Available for around $15, the upgrade turns a very good vacuum into a great vacuum. Bottom line - even with a brushroll and bag upgrade you have a great vacuum that will outlive the 'big name' vacuums. .
