You get what you pay for!

It's an old saying with a lot of truth in it... You get what you pay for. This product (ECCPP® New Set of 6PCS IC108 UF267 9008019016 610-58572 C1175 Ignition Coil) is no different. These are non-standard ignition coils that are short lived and will fail. I bought a set of 6 for my 2001 Lexus ES300 and one of them broke down within the first 6 months (5000 miles). The problem is that it didn't fail to the point where it didn't work at all, it was an intermittent failure so the check engine light came on for a moment and then went off. I didn't know this was happening because it happened so quickly. This made the car feel like it had a transmission problem, but it was a misfire in one of the ignition coils. As I found out, I happened to go into the auto zone and checked for trouble codes, even though there was no check engine light or other error indicator. There was a misfire code in one of the cylinders. I switched the spool to an adjacent spool and the fault code moved to that cylinder so the spool was bad. I emailed the seller...whoever it really was...I explained the situation and said I needed a new coil. I received an email saying the warranty was expired... within a week and they weren't going to do anything. Eventually, after several emails, I said I would pay for shipping, after which they sent me another one. So after 4000 miles (3 months) another coil failed. This time it failed completely to the point where the raw gas was directed into the exhaust pipe and caused a fire in the exhaust pipe causing the pipe to become red hot... very dangerous! The check engine light came on and started blinking. I immediately stopped the car and checked under the hood to see if the exhaust pipe was red hot. I emailed this seller and explained the situation to him. The answer was...it's not a guarantee...you can buy new ones. At that moment I just couldn't believe other people didn't have the same problem with these coils. I have measured OEM Denso coils and found that the coils sold by this seller do not meet the specifications. The primary coil (pins 1 and 2) should have a resistance of 0.36 to 0.55 ohms cold and 0.45 to 0.65 ohms warm. The secondary coil (pins 1 and 4) should read 9-15 kΩ cold and 11-18 kΩ hot. The coils this seller sells measure 0.67 ohms on the primary (pins 1 and 2) and 24k ohms on the secondary (pins 1 and 4). The resistance is too high for it to fire and not be detected by the ECM. These coils are also likely aluminum windings, not identical to the original copper windings. It's really not worth buying cheap ignition coils. This can lead to a very dangerous situation. It is always better to use an OEM part at least for critical parts. Just think how this seller can sell a 6-pack for $75 when genuine parts are $60 each (Denso). Obviously the OEM is making more money off these parts, but how can this seller sell them at any quality for $12.50 each without even considering their profit from the sale. He just doesn't rely on quality parts. Stay away.

  • Mostly good, but...
