Review on Genuine Ford BL3Z 17K707 C Mirror Assembly by Derrick Kadam

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This fits my 2014 Ford F-150 King Ranch and.

You are NOT just escaping glass. This is a glass and plastic mount. That is a good thing. This is an item but there are sellers that ONLY sell GLASS without a mount but that is completely stupid because you spend a good hour cleaning up the sticky stuff just to add more. The product itself is good. Screen-printed letters reading "OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR". Mounted askew on the glass. Also, there was sticky bubble wrap attached to the mirror, I guess to protect it during shipping. I had to CAREFULLY take it off (because the glass of the mirror is VERY THIN) and then clean the mirror a few times to remove the sticky bubble wrap residue. When putting on the mirror, make sure that the holder for it (inside the mirror housing) does not tilt. The instructions don't talk about it. When you remove the old mirror, you'll have to tilt the mirror to stick a screwdriver behind it, or use your fingers to pry it out of its mount in the body (to be honest [step 1], I just pulled the old one out by prying it open with my fingers because it was already broken - WEAR EYE PROTECTION and gloves to protect your fingers from the glass). [Step 2] Disconnect the two (2) wires (I have a black wire and a green wire) by using your fingers to pull them away from the metal leads (very easy). [Step 3] Place the wire connectors on the new mirror in the same locations as the old mirror. [Step 4] Align with mirror housing, press against bracket and insert. This took about 2 minutes (including deleting fingerprints from the mirror after installation). This fits my 2014 Ford F-150 King Ranch. To obtain the correct part number, contact your local Ford Dealership parts department. Give them the last 6 digits of your VIN and they will get the part number from their computer system. Use this part number to search Revain or online for a lower price. My dealer wanted $76 for the same mirror (plus tax). No wonder they can't sell (or have a hard time selling) parts locally. Something else. BEWARE. This mirror is NOT screwed on. It's not secured. I added a short wire with screws so people can't just pull it out and try to get away with it. You might want to do the same. My girlfriend has the exact same truck (same year, everything the same) and she got out in her truck to go home after work, but someone stole both of her wing mirrors (just the glass with mounts, not the whole mirror and the corps).

Pros
  • Item Type: Car Mirror
Cons
  • Unbelievable Price
