Review on ๐Ÿšฝ Toilet Hinge Replacement in White Plastic by Robert Toomey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Almost perfect replacement

This hinge kit was used on a Jabsco hand pump head with a Bemis seat in a marine environment. The fit on both parts of the seat was exact - no re-drilling required. Since it was a perfect fit, I decided to use the original screws instead of the ones that came with it. Not that it's a problem, but the interchangeable screw heads were different and I just didn't take the time to determine if they differ. So what came out came back immediately. The hinges also seem to be at least the same quality as the originals. Since this is a new installation, I can't say anything about the durability. Now for some criticisms: I originally installed the refurbished seat using the nylon nuts and bolts that came with it. The problem I had was that the nuts didn't allow the seat to be held securely in place. I tried different methods of tightening until I was afraid I would risk tearing the thread even more. Anyway, I started rounding off the Phillips head on one screw. Reverting to the original nuts and bolts solved the problem. This problem may be related to the design of the toilet, but even if it is, the nuts have a limited scope. The original nuts have a convex surface, which is better for both centering and securing the saddle to the bowl. The included nuts may or may not be an issue for traditional uses, but for me it was on a Jabsco toilet. Overall, however, I was extremely happy with the fit, quality, and price. Despite the lack of walnut, I recommend this product and would buy it again given a similar rejection in home toilets.
