ADI-4 well packed in a sturdy box; Paint without chips, vise is not worn or dented. Kind of more than I thought. I wouldn't want more for myself. The jaws open over 5 inches and align well. The vise isn't the best color but is covered where it should be and not closed where it shouldn't. I didn't notice any mechanical defects. took it apart, gave it a good rub and used the base as a template to drill holes in my workbench M10 x 1.5 anti-rotation locks. I added them M10 grade 8.8 washers. I checked the mounting tabs with one of the anti-rotation screws and I liked that size so I decided to use M10 x 1.5 x 90mm screws (17mm head - very close to 11/16") to attach the vise. 80 mm would be better, maybe even 75mm, through my 1.75" table. I used neoprene washers with 2 x 3/8" zinc plated washers top and bottom clamped between the vise and table top. Added M10 grade 8.8 washers under the mounting bolts and over the nuts on the underside. I took the time to adjust the base and to clamp before I drilled. Remember, you want your fixed jaw to be either flush with or slightly in front of the front edge of your table, so if you need to clamp something that's dangling, this will expose the edge of your bench. I used one of my bolts to stroke over it drill index to find a good fit, with the base securely in place and a sacrificial piece of wood wedged underneath to avoid cracking I drilled the back hole first and put a bolt in, then I aligned the two front mounting tabs so the line between them was exactly parallel to the front of the bench, clamped u again nd both front holes drilled. with screws in it, it doesn't come out e fits with the mounted mounting plate (well, how did he know? ;) ) Lubricate the top of the base and its counterpart on the vise itself, the guides and the main screw. Then I assembled it and wiped it down. I settled for a small clamp vise, which didn't hold up very well for years because I didn't want to drill holes in my bench. What good is an elegant workbench if it doesn't have a vice? Well to use it.
