Sure this is quality hose with quality fittings but obviously it's not something your local industrial hose and rubber supplier can't quite easily make. I was hoping that paying a high price for a plain hose would save me the trouble of making a custom drain hose for my Honda snowblower. The problem with Drainzit is that you're stuck with the nominally 12-inch hose that's sticking straight out and needs to be routed away from the chains, wheels, or other moving parts of the gear you're using it on. Until you bend the hose 90 degrees to stow it somewhere safe where you could pin it or roll it, most of the hose still sticks out too far from the engine case, at least for me. Contact with a wheel or rail or other moving part can cause premature engine failure. I suppose you can tip some equipment on its side and change the drain plug and hose with every oil change, but I don't think that's the intent , and tipping a big snow blower or log splitter on its side isn't exactly practical. I asked the manufacturer if there were any 90 degree M12x1.5 bows available that are perfect with a swivel end and they didn't know of any (and I couldn't find anything). The best solution to my problem was to use a JIC #4 M12x1.5 male nipple on the motor and then a JIC #4 swivel elbow to crimp the hose nipple (see Aeroquip 1AA4FJB4 for example) which your hose supplier crimps on one end. a direct version of the same plus a plug on the other side. The end result is a simple drain hose with a minimal number of fittings and easy installation of the swivel elbow, no matter how close to the unit's base plate. Also, the elbow allows the drain hose to run as parallel to the side of the engine as you like without protruding, allowing you to use a hose of that length or your specification to get to the drain pan. If you think that a 12 inch straight hose coming straight from the drain plug would be good for your application then this article might be an acceptable choice for you (pressure washer, generator) It's much better than the one described Use 90 degree elbows to avoid interfering with the hose during normal operation.
