Bought a large needle for my hamster. He is strong and seems to like him quite well; However, in my opinion it was too big for a standard pet cage (sold in (c)PetSmart stores). Although it fit in, it took up most of the floor so there wasn't much room to walk around so I had to pull it out. In any case, I'm planning to get a bigger aviary, so I'll use it for that. UPDATE: Unfortunately my hamster died so I got a gerbil a few months later. Within a month of placing the needle in his animal cage (the same cage mentioned earlier), he gnawed out the entire entrance to the needle. To my dismay I have just ordered a small wooden gerbil house because he can chew on it and I have peace of mind knowing he is not ingesting harmful plastic or waking me up at night with his noisy plastic chews. Oddly enough, he also chewed on the rims of his wheel! It's my first time gerbil owner here so I'm learning. I'm guessing they're better for hamsters because they're not that quick to chew plastic if I've ever seen one.
