I actually bought this for my cat. He’s 18 lbs (not fat just a big cat) and has 17” around his middle right behind his front legs. He didn’t have any issues walking in this like he had with other harnesses designed for cats.I realize this is a dog harness. I think it would work spectacularly for a dog. The clip on the back seems sturdy. There are two rings you will need to hook the leash to or it may bust open.As of now, I absolutely recommend for a smaller animal. Sizing chart was accurate. The straps feel very sturdy and it has a cute little peace love and paw print logo on it. 🐾
